There are three new songs on the list this fortnight. New entrant “Chiruta” has edged out “Shankar Dada Zindabad” from the top slot. Directed by Puri Jagannath “Chiruta” is one of the most-awaited films of the year as it launches Chiranjeevi’s son Ramcharan Teja. Mani Sharma has scored the music for the film.

The top five Telugu songs are:

1. “Yamaho Yama” – Film: “Chiruta”. Sung by Tipu, the song tops the charts. A bilingual number, it has a lively, loud, youthful feel.

3. “Aakelesthe” – Film: “Shankar Dada Zindabad”. After remaining on the top position for several weeks, the song has come two notches down this fortnight. Devisri Prasad’s music and Mamta Mohandas and Naveen’s energetic voices helped it to rock so far.

4. “Raara Raara” – Film: “Vijayadasami”. A mass-oriented, foot-tapping number, which opens with “Ganapati Bappa Moriya”, is sung with verve by Shankar Mahadevan. Srikanth Deva composed the music for the song, which seems to be a festive number.

5. “Banam” – Film: “Raghavan”. Harris Jayaraj ropes in Bombay Jayashri to sing the song with Harish Raghavendra. Harris seems a constant with director Gowtham Menon, the director of “Cheli” and now “Raghavan”. The music has a certain melody and the song grows on the listener. The musical orchestration has a classical feel.

‘Yamadonga’ has overtaken ‘Shankar Dada Zindabad’ (SDZ) at the box office. But the SDZ song ‘Aakelesthe’, composed by Devisri Prasad, seems to have an edge and is rocking the charts.

The top five Telugu songs are:

1. ‘Aakelesthe’ – Film: ‘Shankar Dada Zindabad’. The song is still a chartbuster. Mamta Mohandas and Naveen have made it hummable with some terrific support from music director Devisri Prasad.

2. ‘Noonoogameesalodu’- Film: ‘Yamadonga’. A melodious peppy number reminiscent of an old Telugu song! Music director Keeravani sings it with Sunita.

3. ‘Manasa’ – Film: ‘Munna’. The film came and went but the song is still popular, thanks to Harris Jayaraj’s trademark music. The tuneful number with some lively beats is sung by Sadhana Sargam, Naresh Iyer, Krish, Haricharan and Kandikonda.

4. ‘Yemaindhi ee vela’ – Film: ‘Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule’. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s song continues to be on the charts even after many weeks of the film’s release. Though Udit Narayan croons it well, his accent gives away and it is evident that a north Indian has sung the song.

5. ‘Aata’ – - Film: ‘Aata’ – The film didn’t get good reviews, but Devisri Prasad’s score is still popular. Title song ‘Aata’ is a foot-tapping number sung by Shankar Mahadevan and is quite popul

This week proves to be very weak for Tollywood. A Hindi film is bagging well when compared to other Telugu films other than the newly released ‘Yamadonga’.

1. Yamadonga:
The collections of the film have been good since the release of the film as it was released with huge expectations. Till now status of the film is ok and takes pposition-1 in the toppers list of the week. NTR’s new slim look, Mohan Babu as Yama and SS Rajamouli’s factor is the main energies for the film.

2. Chak De India
This is interesting to note that the Hindi film Chak De is getting bigger response in Hyderabad than any other Telugu film after Yamadonga. The collections of the film are good and Sharukh’s performance as Hockey coach stood as highlight for the film. It has got the emotional quotient in it that is appealing masses and youth. The film sits in position 2 of the toppers list of the week.

3. Shankardada Zindabad
The collections of the film are going down and a heavy drop is observed. Lack of publicity and true copy-cat of Lage Raho Munnabhai killed the film on a whole. Chiranjeevi was not received well by masses in that soft non-violent Gandhian role. It sits in position 3 of the toppers list of the week.

4. Lakshyam
The drop in collections is observed but still it is running considerably well. The combination of Gopichand and Jagapathi elevated the mass appeal of the film. On a whole it sits in position-4 in the toppers list of the week.

5. Allare Allari:
This comedy film appealed only for a few but one a whole it is regarded as the old style humor and nothing new. The film has Venu, Allari Naresh, Mallika Kapoor and Parvati Melton. The film is not doing that good and the drop in collections is observed. It is on the verge of box office list of the week

Clash between the fans of Mega Star and Nandamuri clan’s Young Tiger Junior NTR at Guntur created a ripple in Tollywood. According to the residents the event happened like this: Twin theatres Bollywood and Tollywood are showing Shankardada Zindabad and Yamadonga. Yamadonga was released on Wednesday in Tollywood. Some people replaced Shankardada Zindabad cut out and replaced it with Yamadonga angered crowds burned the new film’s cut out and this caused tension between the two groups for some time. A local leader blamed media for making a hill out of a mole by blowing the issue in their telecast. Even locals criticized police for avoiding the issue even though a station is posted near by. This became a sensational news in the Film Nagar. Seniors of the industry warned such trends are unfortunate to happen.

Analysis

First half of the film offers entertainment. Second half has heavy moments with emotional appeal. The plus points of the film are Chiranjeevi and Srikanth. On the flip side, second half should have been handled in a more compact manner and there should have been more Chiranjeevi kind of entertainment. Chiranjeevi is one hero who has all-round appeal and has terrific following in family circles. The second half of the film is aimed toward to the family crowds. The success of the film depends on how the family crowds embrace the second half.

Lowest ‘unique’ bidder to get Shankardada bike August 14, 2007

“Shankar Dada Zindabad” might not have done as expected, but Airtel, one of the sponsors, is determined to make the most of its stake in the movie. The telecom giant on Monday announced a distinct “Reverse Bid” for the yellow Royal Enfield bike used by megastar Chiranjeevi in the movie. By “Reverse Bid”, the company means the lowest unique price quoted. The bottom line is that to win the bike, the quote has to be unique and the lowest among the unique. There is no restriction on decimals.

The bid is open to all the Airtel pre and post-paid users who need to send an SMS costing Rs.3 to 60066 typing “bid” and the price. There, of course, will not be any restriction on the number of messages from a single phone. Noted film star Srikanth who is also the co-actor in the movie launched the display of the bike and made the first bid of Re. 1.

Airtel is also set to ensure that customers in all the major towns across the State are aware of the Reverse Bid. They are sending the bike on a tour to 23 cities and towns. The “Reverse Bid” offer will be open till September 13, announced Elango. T, Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Airtel Ltd., in Andhra Pradesh, in a press meet.

Prabhudeva in a dilemma August 11, 2007

Prabhudeva might have thought that working in ‘Shankardada Zindabad’ would help him repair the bad name that the ‘Pournami’ fiasco had brought him. But, it looks as if the results are very, very mixed.

The film will recover its costs. Chiranjeevi is very adorable in the role of Shankardada. But it just isn’t the kind of hit that one would expect from the Megastar. Just when everybody was looking for a scapegoat to blame for the ‘SDZ’ debacle, their eyes fell on Prabhudeva. Suddenly, he is being held responsible for the disaster by everybody. But the director is very clear that he has nothing to do with it. “The film is good and the stars have performed very well. My duty ends there,” he says. There is a general feeling that the producers didn’t promote the film as they should have

Producer Is The Real Villain For ‘Shankardada Zindabad’? August 9, 2007

Guess who is the happiest man before release and upset and disheartened after the release of Mega Star’s ‘Shankardada Zindabad’? Well, it is choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva. He had seen beaming with joy when he got an opportunity to direct Chiranjeevi. The movie released with a fanfare and lots of hungama but didn’t get the expected response from public. There are many reasons and some are pointing their finger to Prabudeva.

“I couldn’t recreate another wonder like my previous hit film but I did my best”, confesses the scapegoat of the whole issue to his close associates.

The fact is that the Gemini Film Circuit didn’t brother to do any publicity for the film. No promo is being shown in TV channels and even the stills of the film are very less.

“The sole reason for the failure of SDZ is lack of publicity”, affirmed a trade pundit.

Hopefully the mater will end here and people will take notice.

College Students Implemented Shankardada Formula August 8, 2007

The ‘Shankaradada Zindabad’ formula of Gandhian Non Violence method is implemented by the students of a college in Kancherapalam area of Visakhapatnam. The college students weren’t issued the bus passes by the RTC authorities despite pleading in several ways for 2 months. Then the students decided to implement Shankaradada principle and started sending flower bouquets to the concerned officer asking him to ‘get well soon’ and issue the Passes.

The officer responded immediately and issued the passes for all. The Vizag student groups are talking about this non violent style of winning things in big way.

This is really an example to say that the student groups not only get influenced by ‘bad’ in the films but also for ‘good’.
