Box-Office: ‘Yamadonga’ Topped and Rest Dropped August 20, 2007

This week proves to be very weak for Tollywood. A Hindi film is bagging well when compared to other Telugu films other than the newly released ‘Yamadonga’.
1. Yamadonga:
The collections of the film have been good since the release of the film as it was released with huge expectations. Till now status of the film is ok and takes pposition-1 in the toppers list of the week. NTR’s new slim look, Mohan Babu as Yama and SS Rajamouli’s factor is the main energies for the film.
2. Chak De India
This is interesting to note that the Hindi film Chak De is getting bigger response in Hyderabad than any other Telugu film after Yamadonga. The collections of the film are good and Sharukh’s performance as Hockey coach stood as highlight for the film. It has got the emotional quotient in it that is appealing masses and youth. The film sits in position 2 of the toppers list of the week.
3. Shankardada Zindabad
The collections of the film are going down and a heavy drop is observed. Lack of publicity and true copy-cat of Lage Raho Munnabhai killed the film on a whole. Chiranjeevi was not received well by masses in that soft non-violent Gandhian role. It sits in position 3 of the toppers list of the week.
4. Lakshyam
The drop in collections is observed but still it is running considerably well. The combination of Gopichand and Jagapathi elevated the mass appeal of the film. On a whole it sits in position-4 in the toppers list of the week.
5. Allare Allari:
This comedy film appealed only for a few but one a whole it is regarded as the old style humor and nothing new. The film has Venu, Allari Naresh, Mallika Kapoor and Parvati Melton. The film is not doing that good and the drop in collections is observed. It is on the verge of box office list of the week.

Nallamalupu Sreenivas’ time is very good, say industry circles. Ever since he made the film ‘Lakshmi’, the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi are showering on him.
Nallamalupu recently made ‘Lakshyam’ and even that ended up with profits. Now he is trying to make a film with Siddhartha in the direction of Dolly, the assistant director of VV Vinayak. Apart from that Nallamalupu is again planning to make a film with Gopichand.
We have to see if he continues the sentiment of titling his films with the letter ‘L’ as both the films he titled so turned hits.

Box-Office:
1. Shankardada Zindabad:
The film made great opening collections like any other Chiranjeevi’s movie in all the centers. The talk of the film has come out as ‘class’. The masses are not that happy with this film and we have to see how far family audiences patronize it. As on date the film sits on position-1 in the Toppers list of the week.
2. Lakshyam:
The film is still standing on its stand in position-2 unaltered. The collections o the film is pretty good but affected by the release of Shankardada Zindabad this week. Gopichand and Jagapathi Babu’s combination with Anushka factor clearly worked well for the film and it is in position-2 of the toppers list of the week.
3. Shivaji:
The collections of this film were dropped drastically but still holding the box office in its own way. The mush hyped film is surviving only for the hype that it created before its release. Rajni factor is the only thing that is holding it in theaters even now. The film sits in position-3 of Toppers list of the week.
4. Toss:
The collections of the film have come down and in many centers it is making only 35 percent of collections. Priyadarashini Ram’s style of making a film fast screenplay gave a different look for it. Upendra is the only salable factor among masses for this film. But weak narration made the film weak on a whole. The film sits on position-4 of the toppers list of the week.
5. Dubai Seenu:
Although the collections of the film have come down, it is sustaining on the verge of toppers list of the week. Ravi Teja and Nayantara paired up in this film and Sreenu Vaitla’s direction with comedy mixed with action made the film successful. It sits in position-5 of the toppers list of the week.
‘Lakshyam’ beats ‘Sivaji’ to take top spot July 26, 2007

The film got an overwhelming response at the ticket window and pushed Rajnikant-starrer ‘Sivaji – the Boss’ one notch down. It is enjoying the top position this fortnight and may rule the charts for sometime.
The top five Telugu films are:
1. ‘Lakshyam’ – A revenge drama complete with the trademark smirk and imposing physique of Gopichand, the film has become an instant hit with the audience. Land disputes, cops and journalists appear to have touched a chord with the masses.
2. ‘Sivaji’ – Still running to packed audiences, the success of ‘Sivaji’ at the box office appears unending. The viewership has now shifted to moviegoers who have watched the movie more than once. One can attribute its success to superstar Rajnikant, who has the knack to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. A fall in the list for this film, therefore, does not signify anything more than the film industry’s rising production values.
3. ‘Dubai Seenu’ – The film moves up the list this week, with fans appreciating actor Ravi Teja who is back in form. A crowd-puller directed towards youth, the film about a young man who yearns to become rich strikes a chord with the viewers. Well-crafted action scenes and good music by Mani Sharma have helped the film chart its upward move.
4. ‘Satyabhama’ – Not very unlike ‘Ghazni’ minus the violence, the film is like a page out of Salvador Dali’s surrealistic paintings. The mush interspersed with comic relief has proved to be a crowd-puller for some time now and appears to continue entertaining the lovelorn audiences.
5. ‘Toss’ – Priyadarshini Ram’s ‘Toss’ has bagged the fifth spot this fortnight. Though the film boasts of an interesting plot, there is little to hold the audience’s attention. Radical changes in cinematography and a new avatar for Raja do not appear to have gone down well with the masses. The movie may be well on its way out.
‘Toss’ At Loss and ‘Laksyam’ Reaching Target July 21, 2007

The film ‘Toss’ that was released in the direction of Priyadrashini Ram with Upendra and Raja in lead roles is not bagging the collections tantamount to the hype created to it. The film bagged good openings in all the centers including A,B,C. About 75 to 80 percent of collections are done with this film. It is the film in which Upendra acted after a very long time. But the narration in story and fast paced editing spoiled the tempo of the film.
‘Lakshyam’ that was released before last week is standing still at the box office crossing the ‘average’ talk in first week. It is making good collections and making producers happy.
Sivaji is
still sustaining in many centers and the audiences are seen in about 40 percent in theaters of ‘Dubai Seenu’.
‘Satyabhama’ released in the combination of Bhoomika and Sivaji toppled at the box office. Its condition is still worse in B, C centers.
