Feeling totally lost… just chasing so many shadows… yearning for the light… battling against those age-old demons… This is the beginning of a poem written by none other than actress, Kamalinee Mukherjee, who’s a perfect blend of beauty with brains. Writing and cooking are her favourite pastimes. “I may not be acting in films after a certain period, but will either be directing them or writing stories,” says Kamalinee, who is currently writing a book.

“Films just happened. I was into theatre right from childhood. First it was an amateur group and then I took to professional theatre. I came to Mumbai, did several commercials, which in turn opened the doors in tinseltown,” she says. “My beginning was great. I acted in the much acclaimed Phir Milenge, the first Indian feature film on AIDS. I met Revathi in Mumbai for the first time. Though the meeting was very brief, it was charged with high spirits and enthusiasm. Revathi is such a fabulous actress,” says Kamalinee.

“When I told my friends about the offer, many discouraged me asking me not to debut with character roles. But I didn’t want to miss such a great film,” she recollects. It was then that Anand happened and Kamalinee became a hot favourite in Tollywood. In Kollywood, she was noticed in Vettiyadu Veliyadu opposite Kamal Haasan, and she has a couple of more offers on hand.
