First Things First
Chirutha. It is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Son of the biggest star in Tollywood making grand entry bound to create lot of curiosity and hungama. Amidst all the hoopla, megastar Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan arrives with Chirutha.
Ram Charan passes the muster as hero..
The first question on every mind would be is how Chiru son looked on the screen? And the answer is – Ram Charan
passes the muster in his maiden movie. He is good and looked extremely confident in his first film itself. He has screen presence. Like his father, he has scored big way in dances and action sequences. In all the songs, his steps evoke claps from Megastar’s fans. For a debutant, this is a big achievement. Ram Charan as hero scores. Charan also has an agile and well-built body that will help him in the future. He is hero to stay. But he also should concentrate on dialogue delivery.
..then what about the film?

A Mass Masala And A Class Flick October 6, 2007

Two films have released this week out of which one is the much awaited block buster and the other is a film that enthralled critics and college students.
Ram Charan’s ‘Chirutha’ has given success for Ram Charan but the film proved to be failed in substance. The audiences those have assumed that there would be good depth in the story of Ram Charan’s debut have got disappointed. But Ram Charan entertained the audiences with his dances and fights. Critics say that Ram Charan’s characterization, weak story line, feeble narration and Neha Sharma’s acting made the film a dull retreat. The collections for this film in first week are very good but eventually a drop is observed.
But Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Happy Days’ that was released in Andhra on 2nd October is doing very well by attracting college students. The film has depicted the relations between class mates in an engineering college in a very sensitive way. The film has made 100 percent openings in A centers.
NTR’s ‘Yamadonga’ complete its 50 days run and running ahead.
Puri Jagannath Liked Her Lips October 4, 2007

Puri Jagannath is very practical in his outlook and says that he selected Neha Sharma in ‘Chirutha’ only for many attractive features in her.
He says, “I liked Neha’s lips and mouth on a whole. That appears like that of Angelina Jolie’s mouth-small and cute. I felt there is something interesting in her. She perfectly suited for the role”.
That’s how Puri grooved in Neha for the role.
Saying about the reason for not giving chances for Telugu girls as heroines, he said, “We hardly get the albums of Telugu girls. You go and ask any director or producer, he will show only Mumbai girls’ albums but not Telugus. The girls are not at all approaching these days. Even though a few countable girls approach they are not up to the mark. And I don’t believe in giving chances for local talent. Why we are importing advanced cameras from abroad? Why we are going to abroad and shooting our films? Why we are taking Prakash Raj? He is talented. Why we are taking Aashish Vidyarthi? He is also very talented. Same thing applies for heroines as well”.
That’s the practical approach of Puri. He says wherever beauty is there, film industry goes there.
Rajnikanth watches Chirutha October 4, 2007

Tamil superstar Rajnikanth watched a special preview show of Chirutha film and congratulated Chiranjeevi about the performance of Ram Charan Teja. He described Ram Charan Teja as ‘Pedda Puli’ instead of Chirutha. He also said that Ram Chran Teja acted liked a veteran of 70 films and there are no traces of imitating Chiranjeevi by Charan. He said that Telugu film industry got a talented actor in the form of Ram Charan Teja.
Rajnikanth, who was highly impressed with the movie, heaped laurels on the young Theja after the movie.

‘Chirutha’ creates a new wave in collections October 3, 2007

Introducing Ram Charan, son of Padma Bhushan, Mega Star, Dr Chiranjeevi, as hero, ‘Chiruta’ directed by versatile director Puri Jagannath and produced by Mega Producer Aswanidutt on the banner of Vyjayanti Movies, was released on September 28.
The film was a big hit and is creating new waves at the Box Office. People in general and the fans of Mega Brothers in particular, promoted Ram Charan as the Mega Power Star and made the film a big hit.
When it comes to collections, the film had collected Rs 5 crores in Nizam Area during the first week. It had collected Rs 2.90 crores in Ceded, Rs 60 lakhs in Nellore, Rs 1.20 crores in Guntur, Rs 90 lakhs in Guntur, Rs 90 lakhs in West Godavari, Rs 1.10 crores in East Godavari and Rs 1.20 crore in North Andhra, Rs 3 crore including Chennai, Karnataka, Orissa and Overseas during the first week itself.
Such a range of collections for a debut hero is never before and never after. All India Super Star Rajanikanth, who watched ‘Chirutha’ in Chennai on October 2 says, ‘Ram Charan played like an experienced artiste, who already played in 70 films and is acting in the 71st film. Such talented artiste like Ram Charan is a boon to the Telugu film industry. The Telugu film industry need not have another hero for the next 30 years.’
One can assume the power of the Mega Power Star, who got compliments not just from the audiences but for a big star like Rajanikanth.
The second film of Ram Charan is all set to go to sets during next month under the direction of SS Rajamouli and the film is being produced by Allu Aravind on the banner of Gita Arts.
So it is definitely a great going for Ram Charan. Congrats to Ram Charan

Happy Dallas = NJ + Bay Area October 2, 2007

On Friday 28th September Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days created a new record with the biggest ever attendance for a telugu movie in USA. Dallas telugu movie market is typically about 50% of the NJ and about 40% of Bay area markets. On Friday 500 watched Happy Days in bay area and about 700 in NJ. 1157 people watched it in Dallas, which means almost the number which is equal to NJ and Bay area put together( 500+700=1200). It is just unprecedented and happened on the same day the hyped ‘Chirutha’ got released.

Chirutha is unique film in Tollywood history , where it does not matter if the movie is good or bad, hit or flop, has story or not.. It’s all about Ram Charan.. With instant fan following and mega expectations, everybody has the one question in their mind.
“Does he have the stuff to be a successor of Megastar?”
It’s a huge test for Ram Charan and let’s check how he has done as an artiste in different departments..
Acting: The writer (also the director) has created scenes filled with love, sentiment, comedy, anger and Charan performed like a seasoned actor. Especially the scenes involving his mother came out very well. Though there are some rough edges to be sharpened, overall he did a fantastic job, considering it’s his first movie.
Score: 7/10
Diction: Typically debutant heroes has some kind of rawness in their voices, but surprisingly Charan has done his homework well and uttered dialogues with right kind of pitch , intensity and timing. Puri’s sharp one-liners definitely helped to mask any short comings.
Score: 6.5/10
Dance: As a successor to megastar, there are lot of expectations on Charan’s dancing abilities and he definitely meets or exceeds all of them. He has natural grace in his body and it’s a treat watching him dance.
Score: 9/10
Fights: His introduction scene is with a fight which stands out as one of the highlights of the movie. His facial expression during action sequences is good.
Score: 8/10
Appearance: He may not be most handsome hero in Tollywood , but has enough glamour to say he is good looking. He has toned his body well and possesses good screen presence.
Score: 6.5/10
Overall Score: 7.5/ 10

Chiruta lady..Neha Sharma is dating back in Delhi with a divorced business man Mannu. Even the leading lady took his love to Bangkok during the 1st schedule and both the lovers use to created lots of tension on location. Neha’s lover Mr. Mannu used to object & argue with the production, director, for costumes, food and accommodation issue.
During Charan birthday mega star visited the location & came to know about the love of the lady. Soon mega star called up to Mr. Romeo & warned him and the leading lady. But the lovers could not able get separate and maintained low profile there after.
In fact after the 1st schedule the director decided to replace her with other actress, but due to the combination shots with Prakash Raj were already shot the production team could not able to replace her. And with no option the production continued with the lover pair Neha & Mannu.
