Chirutha is unique film in Tollywood history , where it does not matter if the movie is good or bad, hit or flop, has story or not.. It’s all about Ram Charan.. With instant fan following and mega expectations, everybody has the one question in their mind.

“Does he have the stuff to be a successor of Megastar?”

It’s a huge test for Ram Charan and let’s check how he has done as an artiste in different departments..

Acting: The writer (also the director) has created scenes filled with love, sentiment, comedy, anger and Charan performed like a seasoned actor. Especially the scenes involving his mother came out very well. Though there are some rough edges to be sharpened, overall he did a fantastic job, considering it’s his first movie.
Score: 7/10

Diction: Typically debutant heroes has some kind of rawness in their voices, but surprisingly Charan has done his homework well and uttered dialogues with right kind of pitch , intensity and timing. Puri’s sharp one-liners definitely helped to mask any short comings.
Score: 6.5/10

Dance: As a successor to megastar, there are lot of expectations on Charan’s dancing abilities and he definitely meets or exceeds all of them. He has natural grace in his body and it’s a treat watching him dance.
Score: 9/10

Fights: His introduction scene is with a fight which stands out as one of the highlights of the movie. His facial expression during action sequences is good.
Score: 8/10

Appearance: He may not be most handsome hero in Tollywood , but has enough glamour to say he is good looking. He has toned his body well and possesses good screen presence.
Score: 6.5/10

Overall Score: 7.5/ 10

Bottom Line: Kurrodilo Dammu Undi…

Kapu MLAs Vs Chiru Fans Vs Police In Machilipatnam September 29, 2007

Chiranjeevi fans have made it big hype in Machilipatnam for the release of ‘Chirutha’. Initially, they have fixed up the ticket price at Rs 500 raising to the demand. It is the issue sprouted between two MLAs of the region, Vedavyas and Perni Nani. The Chiranjeevi fans President of the area got the poster printed with the photosof Veda Vyasm Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi. This irritated Perni Nani and disturbed the scene asking that an MLA shouldn’t do like that during a film’s release. Chiranjeevi fans protested on Perni Nani. Well, both Perni Nani and Vedavyas are from Kapu community. Both are Congress MLAs.

When the issue was complained by someone to district collector, then he involved in the scene and got the tickets issued at Rs 50, Rs 35, Rs 18 and Rs 6 (regular price) cutting down the influence of Chiranjeevi fans. Collector deputed RDO and police officials for this job.

The police officials there also asked Chiranjeevi fans not to make everything a business and encourage black market being the fans of a reputed star. But the things wouldn’t be same in cities. Machilipatnam, although the district headquarters of Krishna district, is a small town where everything is in the control of police.

The shows of ‘Chirutha’ ran with houseful collections and the black ticket vendors are curbed by police.

First Things First

Chirutha. It is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Son of the biggest star in Tollywood making grand entry bound to create lot of curiosity and hungama. Amidst all the hoopla, megastar Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan arrives with Chirutha.

Ram Charan passes the muster as hero..

The first question on every mind would be is how Chiru son looked on the screen? And the answer is – Ram Charan

passes the muster in his maiden movie. He is good and looked extremely confident in his first film itself. He has screen presence. Like his father, he has scored big way in dances and action sequences. In all the songs, his steps evoke claps from Megastar’s fans. For a debutant, this is a big achievement. Ram Charan as hero scores. Charan also has an agile and well-built body that will help him in the future. He is hero to stay. But he also should concentrate on dialogue delivery.

..then what about the film?

Well, reading all the praise for Charan, one might be disappointed to know that the film is not that exciting. Chirutha fails on content. Director Puri Jagannadh who has given two blockbusters in a row – Pokiri and Desamuduru – comes with a weak script (does it really have any?). It seems he has more relied on songs and stunts. That is why we see more of them anything else. Even the placement of the songs are not good.

His screenplay goes this – a song, one scene and song..and so on. Even after the interval, you don’t see much story. The last 20 minutes is the only portion that has major strength and of course, Ali’s comedy.

What’s the

story?
There isn’t much story but it goes like this Charan (Ram Charan) accepts jail term to save his mother. His father (Surya) is killed by Bhai (Ashish Vidyardhi). 12 years later, Charan seeks employment. He meets a beauty Sanjana (Neha Sharma) who is rich daughter of businessman (Prakash Raj) and loves her. Charan gets employment as a tourist guide in Bangkok. Sanjana too comes there as a tourist. And after a long drama, Sanjana too loves him but then he reveals his real aim – to take avenge on his father’s killer. Rest of the movie is how performs it.

Standouts..

The climax fight and songs stand out in the film. Last 15 minutes is an asset. As always for a Puri film, Ali’s comedy works out in its favour.

Performances

Apart from, Ram Charan, Neha Sharma also debuts in the movie. She plays the role of a super rich brat and she is shown in mostly mini skirts or minimal clothes. She is sexy but due to her clothes she looks lacking ‘heroine material’. Prakash Raj does the role convincingly. Ashish Vidyardhi, Surya, Brhamanadam, Dharmavarapu are okay. Ali as a transvestite brings laughes.

Sam K Naidu’s camerawork is eye-catching. The island scenes are panoramic through his camera. With each film, he is giving best quality. Editing is not that neat. Vijayan’s action choreography is advantage.

Puri Jagannadh this time also fails in dialogues and his screenplay and direction is anything but praise worthy. Producer Ashwinidutt’s production values are rich.

Bottom-line

Chirutha showcases megastar’s son Ram Charan’s abilities rightly. He has good screen presence and good at dances and actions. Hence he might win the hearts. Despite weak script and not so innovative taking, Ram Charan gets noticed.

Just three days ago we presented news in Telugu version with heading ‘Mallee Jagadeka Veerdu Athiloka Sundari’. We said in that, Charan Tej is playing tourist guide in ‘Chirutha’ like his father Chiranjeevi did in ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’. Now the news is that the sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is going to hit tinsel town. This is said by the producer Ashwini Dutt himself in an interview given to a Daily. The film would hit the floors in 2009 and Charan Tej may be playing lead in that.

The concept of the sequel is about the wonders done by a guy who was born to a man and an angel. Will it be like another KRRISH? We have to see how the film would fair well with this idea. Ashwini Dutt also said that the story part of the film is going on now.

The film would be either 3rd or 4th film of Charan Tej. The immediate film of Charan Tej after Chirutha would be with SS Rajamouli.

And finally, the much awaited trailer of Chirutha is out. Now TV channels have begun airing it from today (Thursday, September 20, 2007). The first impression is “good to awesome.” The trailer doesn’t show much of Ram Charan Teja’s face but we can have glimpse of his body language.

Especially the fans are happy. They say it is rocking. So Ram Charan Teja has passed out in the first test.

The concept behind the trailer (cut by Naveen) is enticing. Now, the promos are out and posters are pasted everywhere, the craze around the film is increasing further.

Gossips Are Too Fast In Spreading September 18, 2007

Gossips are too fast in spreading. Krishna Vamshi requested Chiranjeevi to watch his movie ‘Chandamama’ in private screening. Chiranjeevi watched that and appreciated Krishna Vamshi for dishing out a clean family entertainer. The issue closed there.

But the gossips are spreading that Chiranjeevi’s next film will be with Krishna Vamshi. Earlier Krishna Vamshi directed a few ads like Navarathna Tailam with Chiranjeevi. Underlining all this, the grapevine started spreading stating that Chiru will be acting in Krishna Vamshi’s direction.

The news is not at all official and Chiranjeevi is now sitting silent without discussing on any of his future films. He is doing this until the release of his son’s Chirutha

Chiranjeevi Is Worried Only On That! September 14, 2007

This is the grapevine that came from some reliable sources. There is news that Chiranjeevi will be announcing party on October 2 nd. But before taking that decision, it seems Chiranjeevi expressed to his close mates, ‘I’m happy now. I think I have to face many tensions, worries and disturbances once I step into politics’.

It is said that Chiranjeevi’s worry has been revolving on the same but nothing else. Many say that they have discovered Chiranjeevi as very soft personality who is sensitive as well.

‘He hardly stands as a politician if steps into politics. He cannot bluff many times as politicians do. He will be either a big statesman who reforms the society or he will run away from politics in the beginning itself. We have to see Chiru’s perseverance levels in this matter’, says a person who observed Chiranjeevi in close quarters in last 20 days.

Let us wait see what is going to happen.

Chiranjeevi-Aravind Clash Is A Trash September 12, 2007

There have been many rumors about alleged clash between Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind. But that clash news is a trash, say the reliable sources.

The clash news was- ‘Chiranjeevi is intending to hit politics with different tone of agenda where all castes are equal and functions partly on Gandhian principles. But Allu Aravind insists Chiru on caste politics as they would give more mileage and success in short time. As the opinions clashed for the first time Chiranjeevi left deaf ear for Aravind and went to USA to make his own plans. Aravind’s terms with Chiranjeevi’s brothers also spoiled. Even in USA , the gossip continues saying that the NRIs asked Chiranjeevi to keep Aravind away’.

As this gossip is making rounds, the people who confirm that it is trash say, “There is no such tuff between Chiranjeevi and Aravind. It is with the advice of Aravind that Chiranjeevi left abroad. They are working on a matter collectively with unanimous opinions. So, this gossip is a trash”.

Well, why Aravind would go along with Pawan Kalyan to Vizag if he had a clash with Chiranjeevi and his brothers! Let us wait and see if there will be something interesting.
