He loves Mahalakshmi more than anything in his life. Ranga Rao’s brother also has a daughter called Rani (Sindhu Menon) and a son (Satyam Rajesh). Theirs is a happy family. As Mahalakshmi completes her education, he decides to marry her. The family invites another landlord Ramalingeswara Rao (Ahuti Prasad), who has a son Dorababu (Siva Balaji), for an alliance. Dorababu likes Mahalakshmi and the elders fix the alliance.

However, Mahalakshmi tells Dorababu that she loved Kishore (Navadeep), a TV journalist in the city and also dated with him. Mahalakshmi tells him that Kishore had cheated her and did not want to marry her. She makes it clear that she doesn’t want to cheat an innocent like Dorababu by hiding all this. Finding that Kishore played a practical joke and he still loves Mahalakshmi, Dorababu brings him and joins the lovers. Rani notices this love drama and she falls in love with Dorababu and vice-versa. However, none of them could dare to tell the truth either to Ranga Rao or to Ramalingeswara Rao. They come to a decision to elope and marry at their will. But Mahalakshmi could not cheat her father and confesses to him. Whether the girls were able to win the love of their lovers and become one with the acceptance of their elders? Whether the family relations between the families gone into rough weather or had a smooth end? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

Gossips Are Too Fast In Spreading September 18, 2007

Gossips are too fast in spreading. Krishna Vamshi requested Chiranjeevi to watch his movie ‘Chandamama’ in private screening. Chiranjeevi watched that and appreciated Krishna Vamshi for dishing out a clean family entertainer. The issue closed there.

But the gossips are spreading that Chiranjeevi’s next film will be with Krishna Vamshi. Earlier Krishna Vamshi directed a few ads like Navarathna Tailam with Chiranjeevi. Underlining all this, the grapevine started spreading stating that Chiru will be acting in Krishna Vamshi’s direction.

The news is not at all official and Chiranjeevi is now sitting silent without discussing on any of his future films. He is doing this until the release of his son’s Chirutha

Directed by Krishnavamsi and produced by C Kalyan on the banner of Teja Cinema, with Sivabalaji, Navadeep, Kaajal Agarwal and Sindhu Menon in the lead, the beautiful family subject ‘Chandamama’ was released recently and is running successfully.

Any good film would be a welcome for general public. But this film has something special. Padma Bhushan, Mega Star, Dr Chiranjeevi watched the film along with all his family members.

The Mega Star, complimented director Krishnavamsi personally after watching this film.

Is this a hint that Krishnavamsi is going to wield the megaphone for Chiranjeevi’s 149th film? Hope so.

Hyderabad

Success meet of Krishna Vamsi’s latest film Chandamama was held at Film Nagar Cultural Center on the night of 14 September. This meet was attended by C Kalyan, Krishna Vamsi, Nagababu, Ahuti Prasad, Navadeep, Siva Balaji, Sindhu Menon, Kajal Agarwal, Rajitha, Joga Rao, Radha Krishnan, Murella Prasad, Srinivasa Raju, Shankar, Sai Sri Harsha, Peddada Murthy etc.

First hit in my 25 years and 29 films career – C Kalyan
C Kalyan said, “This is the first press meet we are holding after the conceptualization of this project. The movie lovers are appreciating this film. Incidentally, this is my first success in my career of 25 years. I produced 29 films so far. None of the earlier films became hits. Krishna Vamsi gifted me my first hit in the form of Chandamama. I started my career as an assistant director and worked with many directors. I became a producer. I would like to thank everybody for helping me with this film.”

My films reflect Indian traditions and story values – Krishna Vamsi
Krishna Vamsi said, “Team work is important for success of any film. If people like elements in a film, then it would become a hit. If people does not like a film, we cannot term it as a bad film. I had been narrating the story of this film for the past four years to various producers and none of them came forward. I would like to thank C Kalyan for his gusty effort to producer this film. This film boasts of amazing art work. Nagababu and Ahuti Prasad are great assets. I never directed blockbusters. But I always made sure that my films reflect the Indian traditions and good story value.”

I imagined my daughter Niharika while doing daughter-father scenes – Nagababu
Nagababu said, “Each and every character got due recognition in this film. Everybody did a great work. While doing scenes in Kajal I imagined my own daughter Niharika and acted in those situations. Kajal is an extraordinary actress. Krishna Vamsi is a good friend of mine. It is our fortune that we have a director like Krishna Vamsi in film industry. It will be a good break for any artist to act in Krishna Vamsi films.”

Chandamama is an answer to those guys who have written off Krishna Vamsi – Ahuti Prasad
Ahuti Prasad said, “Krishna Vamsi instilled great faith in me by giving a different character. This is the most popular character I had ever done in my career. I will be indebted to Krishna Vamsi through out my life. Chandamama is an answer to those guys who have written off Krishna Vamsi.”

Ahuti Prasad Will Be Called ‘Chandamama’ Prasad September 7, 2007

The name of Ahuti Prasad should be changed now, say the critics and people. He must be called ‘Chandamama Prasad’ from now, they add.

It is indeed true that Prasad has stolen the show by spilling in laughs with his performance delivering East Godavari slang dialogues. Like a flirt, drinker and gambler he has got every scope to spill laughs. All these days Prasad is known as character villain. But Krishna Vamshi has given very big scope for him to show his inner talent in different way. There are no comedians in the film but his mere presence made the film hilarious. Although he took little inspiration from Rao Gopala Rao initially, later he took his style and performed to right degree.

Krishna Vamshi also should be lauded here for extracting right talent from Ahuti Prasad. He is known for that anyway.

Review

Story

chandamama Ranga Rao (Nagababu) is a kind and popular man in a village. He fixes marriage of his city-educated daughter Mahalakshmi (Kajal Agarwal) to a sincere guy from the same village Dorababu (Siva Balaji). But Mahalakhmi has a past in the city where she falls in love with Kishore (Navadeep). The rest of the story is all about how these guys settle the things without hurting Ranga Rao.

Artists Performance

chandamama Main leads: Navadeep is brimming with loads of energy in this film. He is completely spontaneous and has nice dialogue delivery. He gave stupendous dialogue delivery in Telangana dialect in drinking scene. Siva Balaji is very good as good-hearted village boy. His getup (extended mustaches) suited him well. Kajal Agarwal is alright in the role of lead heroine. However, dubbing voice should have been better. Sindhu Menon is appropriate and suited the character well.

chandamamaOthers:

Nagababu gave a mature performance as a loving father. It is Ahuti Prasad who steals the show with impeccable dialect and neat comedy timing. Radha Kumari brings authenticity as a grandmother. Rajesh and Uttej are good. Abhinaya Sri did an item song in this film. Jeeva did an interesting small role as a cop.

Technical Departments:

chandamamaStory – screenplay – direction: Story of the film is plain and simple. There is only one twist in the story that happens due to misunderstanding between the lead pair. Direction of the film is adequate. Screenplay is plain. There is predictability in the film and one can guess what is going to be next scene. Krishna Vamsi followed his own style of having innumerable family members in single frame (like he did in Murari and Ninne Pelladatha).

chandamamaOther departments:
Music of the film is average. But might appeal after repeated listening. Picturization of Bugge Bangarama song is pretty creative. The picturization of the Abhinaya Sri song is unappealing. Dialogues are adequate. Cinematography is neat. The backdrop of Hampi ruins is an asset. Producer C Kalyan who always made mass films changed his style and preferred a film with class orientation this time.

chandamamaAnalysis:

Krishna Vamsi attempted a plain and simple story to narrate in a simple style in the format of Ninne Pelladatha and Murari. The major entertainment in this film is provided by Ahuti Prasad and Navadeep. On the flipside, there is no emotional depth which we usually experience in Krishna Vamsi’s films. There is no justification for the title Chandamama. Probably director felt that the watching film would be like reading Chandamama katha. On a whole, Chandamama is a love story with family backdrop.

The film ‘Hello Premiatara’ was postponed for noticing the lack of collections in film theaters in Hyderabad followed by twin bomb blasts. The fresh releases ‘Raghavan’ and ‘Aggi’ also made meager collections in many theaters of Hyderabad .

This week, the Krishna Vamshi’s film ‘Chandamama’ is set to release. But it said that the ideas are generating among the production team to postpone the release looking the plight of collections.

But it is observed by many that the theaters are now packed with checking with the help of metal detectors. There would be thorough check in vehicle parking areas as well.

So, there needn’t be any postponing idea if the news is true!

Krishna Vamshi Shouted On Navadeep and Kajal August 30, 2007

Recently Kajal and Navadeep faced the ire of Krishna Vamshi for reportedly showing unprofessional attitude. According to reports that shown light lately from one of the channels where their recent film audio launch was shown live.

At the music launch of Chandamama, which stars Kajal and Navadeep, and is directed by Krishna Vamshi, the duo did a disappearing act from the stage, leaving the crew persons waiting for them.

When Krishna Vamshi came to know about their frivolous act, he lost his cool and immediately called Navadeep. He asked both Navadeep and Kajal to return to the set, in a very harsh tone and poor couple had to oblige.

According to an eyewitness, “Krishna Vamshi was completely freaked out and yelled in front of all the people- ‘How can you just walk out like this? You are not working in any B-Grade film. This is my film and I expect little more professionalism from you both.”

But when contacted, Krishna Vamshi refused the charges.

But he said they have done a fantastic job and he was immensely enjoyed shooting for this film. “I also want this film to work for Navadeep’s sake, because he has worked really hard. In this film we have a couple of nice, romantic songs and I am sure people will love us”, said Krishna Vamshi.

But where these birds vanished for those few minutes is a secret till now.

Navadeep: ‘One Day I will be Noticed’ August 27, 2007

Navadeep is happy as his next flick shaped well. He is confident that the movie ‘Chandamama’ is going to be a hit and people will definitely notice him.

What is his character in film ‘Chandamama’?

“I act as village boy, a character that you see in everyday life. It’s a good performance oriented role”, said Navadeep.

“After ‘Chandamama’ I am going to give a lot of importance to my roles. When my films flopped earlier, I was ignored. No one needs to pay attention to me. I only need to be respected as an actor. One day, I will also make my mark,” said Navadeep.

“Those in top position today are those deemed unlucky in the past. Those who have seen my films say that I have acted well in the film but the story is not very good. The story of ‘Chandamama’ is good, so it going to be a hit. Then my success story will start,” said Navadeep confidently.

Let us wish his dream comes true.
